The Richard Nugent Centre in Wednesbury is a purpose-built health facility designed to bring together GP care, podiatry, community nursing and treatment services under one roof, replacing disparate previous sites with a single modern hub. Located on a brownfield site adjacent to the leisure centre, the building has been configured for strong accessibility and ease of use — with on-site parking, ambulance drop-off and flexible consulting and treatment suites.
Working as the architects, our design emphasised light-filled spaces, efficient patient and staff circulation, and a material and aesthetic palette that reflects both the local context and the forward-looking aspirations of the borough. The result is a welcoming, functional and enduring facility that supports both high-quality care and community well-being.
